Mission

The Mission of the Austin Youth Chamber Orchestra (AYCO) is to promote excellence and enjoyment of small group music playing while actively bringing chamber music, in its broad sense, to become a part of the Austin community at large.

 

Dedication

The AYCO is an organization dedicated to providing and enhancing music education and performance opportunities for its members.  The organization cultivates an environment that is conducive to facilitating its membersÕ musical and social development.  At the heart of this dedication is a spirit of concerted collaboration that guides each player in using his/her individual talent, knowledge, experience and creativity to making each ensemble performance a unique process of communication brought forth for all interested audiences of different ethnic backgrounds and religious beliefs.

Under the direction of Dr. Feng Zhao, the AYCO is made up of ten talented and committed string players aged 10 to 15.

January 6, 2008              AYCO New Year Concert at the Steinway Piano Gallery

January 19, 2008            AYCO Chinese New Year Concert at the Asian American Cultural Center

Early May, 2008            AYCO Mid-Year Concert at the Becktell & Blackerby Violin Shop of Austin

End of May, 2008           AYCO Mid-Year Concert at the Steinway Piano Gallery

Early June, 2008             AYCO will perform for the Northwest Hill Chamber Music Camp

Summer of 2008             AYCO will tour and perform in Italy, France and Austria

 

Since the AYCOÕs establishment in September of 2007, the group has planned and/or executed a series of performances.  While its member musicians may be young in their chronological ages, they are committed to individual and group development, as well as sharing the gift of music with the Austin public, groups that may have emotional and/or economical challenges, and ethnic communities which promote a vibrant and positive outlook of life.
